Portrait of Katrina Boyd (a.k.a. Kate Boyd), therapist and EMDR counselor in Evansville, Indiana

About Me

Hi, I’m Katrina Boyd, therapist and founder of Living Story Mental Health & Healing—though you’re welcome to call me Kate. For more than twenty years, I’ve walked alongside people navigating the chapters that shape them most: early adulthood, parenting, big transitions, identity shifts, and the grief that comes with both loss and becoming.

I understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by life’s demands or disconnected from your own voice. I’ve lived through profound personal losses, including losing my mother just as I was stepping into adulthood. Those experiences deeply shaped my belief that every person deserves a space where their story is heard, honored, and reclaimed.

How I Work

My clients are adults already carrying a lot—professionally, emotionally, and in their families. Many come to me feeling overextended, unheard, or unsure how to create the life they want while still taking care of everyone else.

My role is to help you slow down, reconnect, and make sense of what your mind and body have been trying to tell you. Therapy should feel grounding, not overwhelming. Evidence-based, but not clinical for the sake of being clinical.
You’ll notice a strong mind–body focus, because healing rarely happens by thinking harder. Sometimes your story lives in your body long before it comes out in words. My counseling style is warm, grounded, and focused on helping you create real change in your everyday life—not just inside the therapy room.

Training & Approach

As a trauma-informed therapist and counselor, I blend evidence-based approaches with relational, integrated mind–body work to support clients who need more than traditional talk therapy alone. I often land in:

  • Grief & life transitions

  • EMDR therapy (I am a certified EMDR provider through EMDRIA, the international association overseeing EMDR standards.)

  • Somatic and mind–body approaches

  • ADHD and otherwise Neurospicy

  • Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Think of me as a guide—someone who holds clinical expertise while still respecting that you are the author of your story. My job is to help you find clarity, compassion, and sustainable change that actually fits your real life.
